Australian Carbon price hits new all-time high

The price of Australian carbon credit units (ACCU) has hit an all time today with a spot price of $40.
This time last year ACCUs were trading at $16.45 representing roughly a 250% increase over 12 months.
Demand for ACCUs has been steadily rising since COP26 as more corporations have pledged to reduce their emissions and reach net-zero by 2050.
The outcomes from COP26, Article 6 and the improved regulation within the sector is making the world see the need for strong action on climate change and the need to move away from a reliance on fossil fuels.
All organisations should be looking at pathways to sustainability. Now is a great time for Australian corporates to set their sights on ambitious targets, capture some great value and make a strategic decision about procuring renewable energy by going direct to the market.
