Renewable Energy Hub joins the prestigious EnergyLab Scaleup acceleration program
02 September 2020
We hear a lot about the rapid transformation of the Australian electricity system towards a greater share of renewables, and how this requires major changes in how the grid is configured. The Australian Energy Market Operator said recently that Australia is in the midst of what is likely to be the world’s fastest energy transition.
To enable this huge shift in the way energy is produced and consumed, we also need innovation in energy markets. Renewables currently face significant barriers when contracting their output and revenues both in the wholesale hedging market and directly with end users in the retail market.
At Renewable Energy Hub our vision is to change the way those renewable energy transactions happen. We want to make them simpler, faster and accessible to the broadest array of participants. Whether that’s the largest energy companies and renewable energy asset owners trading in the wholesale market, or commercial and industrial energy users wanting to source low cost clean energy, we’re here to make it happen.
To realise our vision, we need to drive innovation in the way counterparties transact with one another, and we need to use digital tools to scale that market quickly.
That’s why we’re thrilled to joining EnergyLab’s Scaleup program. The Scaleup program is designed to help the most innovative late stage startups to roll out technology that will help decarbonise the energy sector.
EnergyLab and their partners were impressed by the innovations we are developing and the traction we already have in market. Renewable Energy Hub will join other rapidly growing start-ups from Australia, USA and New Zealand in the inaugural cohort of the Scaleup Program.
We’re excited about the opportunity to work with other rapidly growing startups, some great energy company partners, experienced mentors and investors across the six-month program. We will keep you updated on our progress and we look forward to sharing some exciting announcements about the projects we develop and partnerships we form.
